...A chance to engage your mind in epic story lines. Mortalis LARP is meant to foster strong role-playing, but provide enough structure for a good battle.
Mortalis LARP is a live-action, live-combat style of game and is meant to be played with foam padded weapons called boffers out in a large open area like the grassy area of a park. Mortalis LARP is unique because unlike many fantasy-medieval LARP systems, it lacks pre-defined classes, allowing an individual to create a character that fits their vision of what their character should be.
Mortalis LARP is not a campaign setting in and of itself, but an independent fantasy, medieval rules systems that forms the frame work for an existing or new campaign setting to be created around. There is a small amount of general world information that is universal, but each chapter or group is allowed to create their own game world. Histories, maps, towns, cultures, and the role-play oriented information is up to each chapter or group.
Mortalis Games is the organization that is responsible for producing this system and overseeing the national administration of those who run sanctioned Mortalis LARP chapters. Use of the game system and any supporting information provided here is offered free of charge for non-commercial purposes.
Step into a world of magic, mystery, and adventure, with epic battles and puzzling quests.
Mortalis Games Mission Statement
It is the goal of Mortalis Games to create and support a live-action role-playing game system that many different styles of live-action role-players will enjoy. This includes providing a means by which those playing the game are allowed to create a character that fits their vision of what their character should be as well as determine how they want their game setting to look and feel. Histories, maps, towns, cultures, and the role-play oriented information is up to each chapter or group. As such it should be noted that Mortalis LARP is not a campaign setting in and of itself, but an independent fantasy-medieval rules system that forms the frame work for an existing or new campaign setting to be created around and games run within.
Mortalis Games also understands the need for a fantasy-medieval live-action game that is affordable to run and affordable to attend. It is not always possible to devote an entire weekend - Friday evening through Sunday - to gaming due to financial and/or time constraints; nor is it always possible to run a Friday evening through Sunday event due to those same issues. Mortalis Games overcomes this by providing the organizational framework for a single day live-action role-play event by providing the game rules, record keeping documents, plot and owner resources, and support for inexpensive, single-day events without cost to those wishing to run such events.
It is the hope of Mortalis Games to provide to the members of the live-action role-playing hobby a fun, inexpensive gaming opportunity that presents the best of both combat and role-play elements in a single rules system.
