It’s been a good few months since my last posting and work continues. At times a bit slower than I’d like, however life and work come first, hobby second. During the heat dome event I kept the computer off and so didn’t do any writing for the better part of a week because my place got rather toasty. So, where do things sit right now?
Phase 1:
The phase 1 draft is done and I’ve gotten some good feedback on it. The final word and page count for this initial draft is 85,110 words and 175 pages. I’ll be actioning on the feedback once I’m done with at least Phase 2. It took just under a year to write this up.
Phase 2:
The engine document is coming along quite well. I’ve set it aside and need to pick it back up and finish it now that I’ve given my eyes and mind a break from looking at it. I’ve also realized I need to do a small companion document to the engine explaining how to use it. This should be fairly easy given I have a lot of that content already written up. I just need to drop it into this new companion document.
There are two chapters to finish writing for the book document and then it will be complete. Word count is pending because I have some of the content sitting in other documents, waiting to be dropped into the main document (I want to finish the last two chapters first). I expect this to take between 1.5 and 2 years to complete due to how much there is to write and do.
Phase 3:
Not started yet, will happen once I have the phase 2 drafts done, but I expect this to take about a year tops to do since I’ll be building on a foundation I’ve already developed.
My initial thoughts were that by the end of 5 years I’d be able to typeset everything, and I think that needs a revision. I think that by the 5 year mark I’ll have drafts of everything written up and it’ll be a few years after that before I’m ready to publish stuff. But who knows? *shrug.*
